This comparison changed in 2026. In the US, Hilti has transferred its Concrete Sensors line to Concrete Sensors, Inc., and Hilti's own support for the app and your data runs out in October 2026. Here are the published dates, what they mean for your monitoring data, and how Sensytec compares if you are choosing a new vendor anyway.

What the Hilti Transition Means for You

If you are researching Hilti concrete sensors in 2026, the first thing to know is that the product changed hands in the US. These are Hilti's own published statements, quoted directly:

  • “Effective March 31, 2026, Concrete Sensors products are available from Concrete Sensors, Inc.”
  • “Starting April 16, 2026, all sales, services, and customer support for Concrete Sensors will be handled by Concrete Sensors, Inc.”
  • Hilti will provide “full support including app access, data availability, and related services until October 2026”.
  • The app was to be “renamed into Concrete Sensors by July 1, 2026, maintaining the same functionality”.
  • Customer data not consented for transfer will be “deleted by October 31, 2026”.

In practice that means three things. The line is not disappearing, it continues under Concrete Sensors, Inc. Your vendor relationship, your support line, and your app are moving to a different company than the one you bought from. And your historical maturity data has a date on it: if you do not consent to the transfer, it is deleted after October 31, 2026, so export what you need before then regardless of which vendor you choose next. Hilti's US product pages for the HCS T1 and HCS T2 now serve that transition notice in place of specifications and pricing. We are not going to pretend this is bad news for us, but the honest version is that plenty of teams will simply follow the product to its new owner, and that is a reasonable choice. This page is for the teams who would rather re-evaluate while they are already changing something.

TL;DR: Which One to Pick

  • If you are re-evaluating, the question is not Sensytec or Hilti, it is which Sensytec. The HCS line is two variants of one architecture: cast in, not recovered, temperature in and maturity strength out. Sensytec covers the same job with SensyRoc II, a Bluetooth sensor with a free phone app whose body comes back and gets reused, and goes further with SensyCast when you need range and a second signal.
  • Pick SensyRoc II for field crews and jobsite pours, the same audience Hilti's Concrete Sensors pages address (General Contractors, Concrete Contractors, Structural Engineers). Sensor, phone, done, and the sensor body is reusable with replaceable probes.
  • Pick SensyCast for precast plants, mass pours, and multi-pour producers: temperature and electrical resistivity, roughly a mile (1.6 km) of sub-GHz range to a gateway you own, and data that keeps arriving after the pour is buried.

Where Sensytec Wins

A vendor that is not changing hands

Sensytec builds the sensors, the match-cure hardware, and the cloud platform, and supports all of it from Houston, Texas. There is no handoff between the company that sold you the hardware and the company that answers the phone about it, and no date after which your history stops being ours to keep. That is worth saying plainly right now, because the practical cost of a vendor transition is not the sensors, it is the migration of the data your submittals were built on.

A second signal, not just a second decimal place

The HCS T1 and T2 report “Strength and temperature”, but the strength figure is derived from temperature history through the maturity method, so there is one physical input. SensyCast adds electrical resistivity alongside temperature per AASHTO T-358 and ASTM C1876, an independent second signal that flags calibration drift, mix changes, and unfamiliar admixture behavior, and at later ages tracks with chloride-ion penetration resistance as a durability indicator. We found no electrical resistivity on the published HCS T1/T2 technical data.

The sensor comes back

Hilti's own description is that “Every sensor is still fully embedded in your concrete, so no wires are interfering with finishing operations.” That is a genuine benefit at the pour, and it is also a recurring hardware cost: the device stays in the element. Both Sensytec sensors are recovered and reused, SensyRoc II as a reusable body with replaceable probes, SensyCast as a logger that cycles for years on a rechargeable battery. A plant pouring 30 beds a week feels that every week.

Range you own instead of rent

Bluetooth is fine when someone walks to the pour, which is why SensyRoc II uses it, and why Hilti's HCS T1 lists a signal range of “up to” 30.5 m. Beyond that the HCS T2 is the long-range variant at 304.9 m, paired to a separate CS Gateway, and Hilti states that “The required CS Gateway can be rented from Concrete Sensors for the monitoring period.” SensyCast reaches a gateway from roughly a mile (1.6 km) over sub-GHz, keeps transmitting after burial, and the gateway is part of the system you buy rather than a rental tied to a monitoring window.

Match-cure, which is simply not in their catalog

For prestress release and PCI-certified production, the accuracy of your companion cylinders decides when you detension. SensyCure holds those cylinders within an average of 0.79°F of the bed for the full cure, and our controlled two-day trial shows what happens without it: a legacy system over-cured cylinders by up to 27°F. We swept the full Concrete Sensors sitemap and found no match-cure or temperature-matched-curing product, so this is not a spec comparison, the capability is absent from the line.

QC software that matches your audit, precast or jobsite

Where Hilti Wins

There are real reasons the HCS line has satisfied customers, and the transition does not erase them:

  • Nothing to get back. A sensor that stays in the element removes retrieval, recharging, and hardware tracking entirely, and Hilti's point that “no wires are interfering with finishing operations” is a real one on a finishing crew. Reuse only pays if someone actually collects the sensor.
  • Bundled software, no subscription. Their stated model is that “All software is included in the price of the hardware. No hidden fees or subscriptions.” If you want one line item and no recurring platform cost, that is a clean commercial structure.
  • A rented gateway for a fixed window. For a single project with a defined monitoring period, renting the CS Gateway rather than buying infrastructure is genuinely the lighter option.
  • Continuity is on offer. The line is not disappearing, it is moving. Hilti's notice says the app was to be renamed “maintaining the same functionality”. If your workflow works and you consent to the data transfer, following the product to Concrete Sensors, Inc. is a legitimate choice and we would rather you hear that from us than feel sold to.

What we would push back on is the idea that simple has to mean disposable. SensyRoc II is the same tie-it-and-read-it-on-your-phone workflow, with a free app, and the body comes back.
